Digital Equity Coordinator

In 2024 Mauricio Jimenez joined Cook County as the Digital Equity Coordinator where he leads strategy, policy, and implementation efforts to expand broadband infrastructure and digital access throughout one of the largest and most diverse counties in the nation. His work bridges government, nonprofit, and industry sectors to align regional goals, advocate for inclusive technology policy, and shape public understanding around digital transformation.

Mauricio oversees communications and public engagement campaigns, outreach, and strategic initiatives—including Access Amplified, broadband expansion, and community-centered grantmaking programs. He monitors emerging technologies and evolving policy landscapes to ensure Cook County remains responsive and forward-looking. He helps align regional efforts to expand broadband access and drive innovation in public service. 

Before joining Cook County, Mauricio worked as an Associate Consultant at IBM (formerly AST), where he supported technology modernization for public sector clients, designed human capital management systems, and improved project documentation and delivery. Prior to that, he served as a Policy Analyst in the Illinois House of Representatives, where he led communications efforts and crafted data-informed policy initiatives to support underserved communities.

As a systems thinker, Mauricio brings expertise in public affairs, business design, and digital infrastructure. He holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is also certified in Digital Inclusion Leadership through Arizona State University and served on the National Youth Advisory Board at Young Invincibles.
